A Theological Mutt?

Don’t ask me how I stumbled across it, but I found this "test" that you take to see what denomination (out of 24) you most likely fit in with. Of course, I couldn’t resist this! So I took it, and I’m still dying of laughter at my results. Here are my top 5:

#1: Methodist/Wesleyan Church
#2: Assemblies of God
#3: Free Will Baptis
#4: Mennonite Brethren
#5: Seventh-Day Adventist

I’m trying to think of something they have in common, and the only thing I can come up with is anti-Calvinistic (although I don’t know much about Mennonite or Seventh-Day Adventist doctrine). But still! I mean, Methodist, and Assemblies of God? Non-Calvinistic is about where the similarities stop. And then Free Will Baptist gets thrown into the mix? And Mennonite? Seventh-Day Adventist? I have no idea where the last one came from. It must be because I said that I didn’t think Sunday was the only true day of worship. Of course, neither do I think Saturday is the only true day of worship either, so that was an unfair question. And I’m certainly not a vegan. As far as the Mennonites go…I know even less about them.

All the same, if it says anything, it says that I don’t fall into one theological camp. I guess that makes me a theological mutt. That’s okay. I guess that’s what happens when you read the Bible and get your theology from it instead of forcing your theology to fit in with the Bible…um…I mean…did I say that?

The Trials of Adulthood

I just realized something really depressing.

You know how when you were a kid and you would jump on your bed and get in trouble for it? And when you asked why you couldn’t jump on your bed your parents said, "Because you’ll break it"? And you got mad and wanted to jump on the bed anyhow? Well, I just had this childlike notion to jump on my bed, and with a great thrill I realized that I had no parent to tell me not to! And then in great sadness I realized something else: I can’t jump on my bed.

I might break it.
